As a citizen our right to influence our governance with our voice is critical to democracy. Our Constituents In Waiting is an initiative to help you vote on legislation through your elected official. You will be able to advocate for the passage of a climate-related bill in its formative stages as it passes through committees, not just at the last minute when it comes to the floor for a vote.
Here’s how it works. We will monitor the progress of selected bills and alert you when a committee on which your elected representative serves is to receive one of those bills. You and other volunteers from that district will then contact your legislator with messages of support for that bill. Legislators listen to their constituents above all others!
Regardless of your political position, the bills we are following are ‘Common Good Common Sense bills’…such as identifying and replacing lead pipes carrying our water. In 2022 the MN Senate blocked several such bills. Money was not the problem. We had a surplus!
